Big Bow - Kiowa

Big Bow 1833-1900

Big Bow (ZEPKOETTE) was born in 1833 on Red River village in to a Kiowa tribe's "Koqui" band. He inherited his name and physics from his father, a brave warrior. He became a great enemy of the whites and one of the last chief to surrender. At the age of eighteen he had already made two important war parties. He was always against the religions and shamans: he believed only in his own strength. In 1853 he made a long war party (3 years) against Ute and Navajo tribes. In April 20th 1872, near "Howard Wells" (Texas), he attacked with chief White Horse against a wagon-train that traveled without any military escort: 17 driveres were killed and all the cargo was stolen.
After years of fighting, in January 1875 he surrended at Fort Sill, where died in 1900.
