White Horse ?-1892
White Horse (TSEN-TAINTE) was born in to the
Kiowa tribe. He got famous already in his childhood for his daring and
strenght; he was able to catch a child, riding at high-speed and pull
the child to the saddle. In 1867 he led many raids against Navajo reservation
near Fort Sumner (New Mexico).
In 1870 he led many raids against Texas farmers and one raid against Fort
Sill, where they did steal 73 mules.
In 22 June 1870, White Horse attacked with his band against some cowboys
near Fort Sill, in that attack he did kill and scalp two of the cowboys
all by himself.
In 7 August 1870 he attacked the farm of G. Koozer, killing the man and
capturing the wife and six children.
In 30 September 1870 he made an ambush against Fort Concho's diligence,
killing all the soldiers in the escort.
In 18 May 1871 he attended to "Warren Wagontrain" battle.
In 20 April 1872, together with Big Bow, they attacked a wagontrain in
Crockett County (Texas) killing 17 drivers; in this episode, he was wounded
in arm. In 19 May 1872 his minor brother, Kim-pai-te, was killed by soldiers
near Fort Belknap. He soon organized a revenge-raid and in 9 June attacked
the farm of Abel Lee, near Fort Griffin: they killed the man, his wife
and a daughter who was 14 years old.
In June 1874 he attended to second battle of "Adobe Walls".
In 27 September 1874 his village was attacked by Col. Mac Kenzie and almost
totally destroyed. In 19 April 1875 he and his band surrended at Fort
Sill. He was imprisoned at St. Augustine (Florida). He was set free in
1878, he came back to the reservation near Fort Sill where he lived in
peace with his family until he died in 1892 of indigestion (not a good
death for a great warrior...).
