White Horse - Kiowa

White Horse ?-1892

White Horse (TSEN-TAINTE) was born in to the Kiowa tribe. He got famous already in his childhood for his daring and strenght; he was able to catch a child, riding at high-speed and pull the child to the saddle. In 1867 he led many raids against Navajo reservation near Fort Sumner (New Mexico).
In 1870 he led many raids against Texas farmers and one raid against Fort Sill, where they did steal 73 mules.
In 22 June 1870, White Horse attacked with his band against some cowboys near Fort Sill, in that attack he did kill and scalp two of the cowboys all by himself.
In 7 August 1870 he attacked the farm of G. Koozer, killing the man and capturing the wife and six children.
In 30 September 1870 he made an ambush against Fort Concho's diligence, killing all the soldiers in the escort.
In 18 May 1871 he attended to "Warren Wagontrain" battle.
In 20 April 1872, together with Big Bow, they attacked a wagontrain in Crockett County (Texas) killing 17 drivers; in this episode, he was wounded in arm. In 19 May 1872 his minor brother, Kim-pai-te, was killed by soldiers near Fort Belknap. He soon organized a revenge-raid and in 9 June attacked the farm of Abel Lee, near Fort Griffin: they killed the man, his wife and a daughter who was 14 years old.
In June 1874 he attended to second battle of "Adobe Walls". In 27 September 1874 his village was attacked by Col. Mac Kenzie and almost totally destroyed. In 19 April 1875 he and his band surrended at Fort Sill. He was imprisoned at St. Augustine (Florida). He was set free in 1878, he came back to the reservation near Fort Sill where he lived in peace with his family until he died in 1892 of indigestion (not a good death for a great warrior...).
